I have now completed changes to my photos so you can enlarge the thumbnail by clicking on it. Hope this makes things better for the viewer.
These pieces of art have taken me time and something of myself to paint so if you are going to use, copy etc. them in any way please contact me. Otherwise enjoy!
Spring of 2010, Surprise for Debbie! See below
After 35 years or so, imagine my surprise when I was asked to contact the curator of the Red Deer College to sign my painting that was part of the collection. I remember selling this piece to what I thought was the President of RDC. I was also plesantly surprised that I like the piece and don't find it embarrassing.
By the end of August I could finally get out to paint again. Jeri-lyn and I met at the Ellis Bird Farm for a day of plein aire painting. I ended up painting a "dyptich", "Reflections On An August Afternoon" and "Reflections On An August Afternoon Part 2" as the view was so panoramic. September found me painting veiws from around my yard once again, our slough and my favorite veiw from my patio. The air was cool the day I painted the burgundy tree and after a big wind came up, the colors are no more!
July 6 to the 11 I attended a week of painting at the Lazy M Ranch with David More instructing. Great time and lots of learning! We had some hot weather and some cool rainy weather, so a real mix of light to paint! Here are four from the week!
Trip to Cortes
We were lucky enough to take a trip to Cortes Island and house-sit for my brother and his wife. They have an amazing house on the ocean with a beautiful yard. I took along my paints and travelled around the island finding interesting spots. Fabulous trees, the arbutus with their twisted red shapes and of course the incredible cedars and firs! My favorite veiws of course were from Ron and Helen's house. The channel in front of the house was the subject of three paintings already and there is still more I would like to do. It took me a few days to figure out the colors and the light! Trying to paint the garden to the west towards the shop was interesting as there is so much information! Plants! Shapes! Loved it all!!! These next four are from that trip.
Painting at Home
I always love the first flowers in my garden every year and have taken some time to paint them. With exception to the Sunflowers, I had purchased them for something else and liked them so much I painted them. I have set up a still life in our sunroom and plan on painting it many times through this summer. I feel if I give myself a project like this it will keep me painting and also make me think outside of my little box and maybe come up with new ideas and technics!
